At Hoogland’s Wood Shop, we make Custom Built and Installed Log Spindle Railing
and Log Furniture. We start from scratch … buying local native white cedar from
local loggers, and then sawing and peeling the logs on our portable sawmill. Next we
slow dry the logs for up to three months in our on-site wood kiln (a VERY important
step). From there, we have a big truck set up as a “shop on wheels”, which we use
to come to your house or job site to install your staircase railing or deck railing.
Everything is up to Michigan and Wisconsin builders code so you get a perfect
custom fit AND a good looking log railing.

Our log furniture is custom built to your specs or shape. Nothing is mass produced. From beds, dressers and night
stands, to bar stools and bar tops, even kitchen cabinets, tables and chairs … everything is built to be used, with an eye
toward excellence in craftsmanship. We also make tongue & groove paneling in whatever wood species you would like,
whether it would be white pine, aspen, ash, cherry or hard maple. And we also make hardwood flooring in the same
species.
Whatever your project requires, you can be confident that from the first phone call to job completion,
you are dealing directly with the owner and your job will be completed correctly and professionally.
